Course Description

This 12 hour training is designed to enhance non-clinical care professional’s knowledge and skills to support the healing process for those they care for who struggle because of a history of trauma and adversity. Learn the essential information and skills to help trauma survivors recover fully from the events of their past.  Those that care will increase their ability to use the active ingredients that are vital and fundamental to effective recovery and resilience of a trauma history.

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how to have high quality deliberate relationships with co-workers, clients and your own family.
  • Improving your ability to respect and believe in others, regardless of their emotion, thinking and behavior.
  • Increased ability to create a growth oriented environment characterized as nurturing, open, accepting while promoting high ethical standards.
  • More focus on managing one’s self than trying to control others.
  • Greater ability to encourage and empower others to live their values and have integrity.

Case managers, Case workers, Foster parents, Parents, Teachers, Nurses, Daycare workers, Social workers

This course meets the educational requirements for the Certified Trauma Support Specialist certification available through the Trauma Institute International.

CE Credits

Credits listed below are for full attendance of the live training.  Attendees will sign in upon arrival and after lunch.  At the end of the training, attendees will be given an evaluation to complete.  After completing the evaluation attendees will receive a certificate of completion for the training.

Arizona Trauma Institute does not issue partial certificates of completion.

Presenter: Roderick Logan, DPTh, CCTS, CFTP, FFTT

Dr. Roderick Logan is a Senior Faculty member at the Arizona Trauma Institute and Trauma Institute International. For more than 35 years, Dr. Logan has worked with individuals from diversified backgrounds, cultures, and social circumstances, and his life-long mission has been to guide those injured and traumatized to reclaim their life’s purpose and meaning. Dr. Logan holds a Master’s in Biblical Counseling and a Doctorate in Practical Theology.  His trauma certifications include a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, Certified Family Trauma Professional, and Certified Facilitator in Forward-Facing Trauma Therapy.  Additionally, Dr. Logan is an Ordained Minister.

His experiences include working with and advocating for children, young people, parents, educators, professional and non-professional caregivers; from juveniles in lockup at California’s Youth Authority in the early 1980’s to more recently his work with the Arizona Department of Child Safety, the Arizona Department of Corrections, and multiple community service organizations serving at-risk populations. Dr. Logan’s prolific platform integrated with his scholastic achievements uniquely qualifies him as an authority on trauma-informed care; principles for resiliency building; and, pathways for navigating the optimum life.
