Training Description

This 4-hour course is a must for anyone in the mental health field looking to strengthen their ethical practice and ensure the highest quality of care for their clients. Navigating the complex ethical landscape of mental health practice is crucial for professionals who are committed to providing the highest standard of care. This comprehensive course, “Ethical Considerations and Best Practices,” is designed to equip mental health professionals, students, and advocates with the essential knowledge and skills to address ethical dilemmas effectively while adhering to best practices in their field. Learners will explore the theoretical foundations of ethics in mental health, contemporary challenges, and practical strategies to implement ethical decision-making processes in their practice. Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will understand the foundational principles of ethical decision-making in professional counseling, including the application of relevant codes of ethics, rules, and laws specific to the state of Arizona.
  2. Participants will be able to identify and analyze common ethical dilemmas encountered in counseling practice, such as mandated reporting obligations and navigating dual relationships, with a focus on applying ethical decision-making models.
  3. Participants will explore the ethical considerations arising from the increasing utilization of telehealth services in counseling practice, including privacy, confidentiality, and boundary maintenance.
  4. Participants will be able to evaluate the impact of social media on professional boundaries and ethical responsibilities in counseling and develop strategies for maintaining ethical conduct in online interactions.
  5. Participants will gain enhanced proficiency in clinical documentation practices to ensure compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements, with an emphasis on accuracy, thoroughness, and confidentiality.
  6. Participants will be able to apply ethical principles and best practices to case scenarios and real-world situations, fostering the ability to make informed, ethically sound decisions in diverse counseling contexts.

CE Credits

Credits listed below are for full attendance of the live streaming webinar training.  After the training, attendees will be emailed an evaluation to complete.  After completing the evaluation attendees will receive a certificate of completion for the training.

Arizona Trauma Institute does not issue partial certificates of completion.

Presenter- Havi Kang, LPC, CSAT-S, CPTT-S, Trauma & Resilience Life Coach

Havi is a trauma-informed Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who is passionate about helping and educating clients and therapists in healing trauma and addiction. Havi has spent the last seven years working at the inpatient level of care at Claudia Black Young Adult Center as a primary therapist and trauma therapist, and then served as Clinical Director at Willow House at The Meadows. In the last three years, Havi has worked with IITAP as a volunteer and then as the E-Learning Coordinator, and now as the Clinical and Curriculum Manager. Havi is also a Trauma & Resilience Life Coach.

Havi specializes in childhood and adulthood trauma, love addiction, sexual issues, female sex addiction, codependency, intimacy and relationship issues, attachment issues, substance abuse, partner betrayal trauma, personality disorders, identity/gender identity issues, gender presentation, sexual orientation, mood related issues, and racial trauma/multicultural issues. Havi also specializes and offers clinical supervision for therapists in training or gaining certification for CSAT or CPTT. 

Havi is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Post Induction Therapy (PIT), Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT-Supervisor), and Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT-Supervisor) and is currently training in Somatic Experiencing (SE). Havi is knowledgeable in multiple treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Patrick Carnes’ 30 Task Model, and Psychodrama/Experiential work.

Havi has had the privilege of working directly with leaders in the mental health community such as Dr. Stefanie Carnes, Dr. Claudia Black, Pia Mellody, Dr. Peter Levine, Resmaa Menakem, Dr. Tian Dayton, and Dr. Richard Schwartz.
