After the Crisis | The 4 Absolutes of Treating Acute Stress

This training will focus on working with adults and children that have experienced acute stress disorder after a crisis. We will focus on how to approach diagnosis, work, and healing with people who are experiencing acute stress after an event from a trauma informed approach. We will fully explain how acute stress disorder forms and differences and commonalities between stress disorders from a neuroscientific perspective. Participants will discover how the interaction between the internal wiring in the brain, the event or crisis and the response can support more effective healing. The training will explore how relationship and response interventions can be used supports clients in healing collectively after a crisis.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to understand how to work with Acute Stress Disorder in children and families.
  • Participants will be able to understand ways that Acute Stress Disorder may differ from other stress disorders.
  • Participants will be able to understand the different treatment options for Acute Stress Disorders in children and families.
  • Participants will learn how to work with families as a group after a crisis to heal together.
  • Participants will learn what tools and activities can be used with this client group.
  • Participants will be able to understand the importance of psycho-education around default wiring and templates for this group and draft usable scripts to help clients understand how their brains and bodies may have been impacted by this trauma.
